BREXIT is now a reality and a “wake up” call for the ‘distant’ EU brand. The EU has lost contact with Europe’s citizens. Or worse, it never truly connected with them in the first place. We warned the EU institutions this could happen. And it did.

BRAND EU works as the independent brand marketing champion of the European Union brand. As one of the PRO-EU referendum campaign groups that have campaigned to stop BREXIT, we have learned a great deal about the EU’s image and brand problem. The EU brand is weak and an easy target for Eurosceptic attacks in UK and other EU nations. The EU is still “very remote and incomprehensible” to the majority of European citizens. Post Brexit, this lack of a clear EU brand strategy, identity and vision puts the entire European project at great risk. So what happens next?
